| Question: Please advise on how to proceed with Bid Item 8B. Nevada Thermal Services is no longer in business, and bidders are unaware of any realistic alternatives for the thermal treatment of contaminated soil within Nevada. In light of this, should bid item 8B be removed? |
| Answer: Bid Item 8B remains necessary and will not be removed. As stated in the bid item clarification, the contractor shall “haul existing contaminated soil (limits to be determined based on testing by the NDOT Special Inspector) and deliver it to the nearest thermal processing plant.” The clarification does not specify the location of the approved plant or require that the facility be located within Nevada. This item would include all soil exceeding the contamination level allowable for disposal at a landfill which also requires appropriate remedial actions and treatment as terms of acceptance. Please refer to the “Bid Item Clarification Summary” for Item 8B. |
