Question: 632.03.03 of the standard specifications "Remove loose particles, dirt, tar, grease, and other deleterious material from the surface to be striped. Clean and scarify the existing striping paint surface to remove lose material and build up prior to application of the new epoxy or polyurea striping paint. If existing striping is chipped, peeling, and/or deemed too damaged to be painted over, the Engineer will require removal of the existing striping so that at least 95% of the underlying pavement is visible. Remove existing striping by blasting, grinding or by means shown to be acceptable to the Engineer. Provide a test section per the Engineer’s direction. Do not damage the existing plantmix bituminous surface." Will NDOT be defining the areas that require removal of existing striping? Also, will NDOT please consider adding bid item 2021290 REMOVE PAVEMENT MARKINGS to address the required line removal? |
Answer: The contractor and NDOT Engineer shall work together per section 632.03.03 Surface Preparation as stated above. Section 632.03.03 Surface Preparation is considered incidental to the Striping bid items. |
